Hello friends, Thanks again to everyone who's been talking it up here on the Ecstatic Meditation board. Invigorating and excellent questions, answers, insights and recommendations. I wrote an article today that some of you may enjoy -- or not! It has to do with the "automatic" function of meditative absorption (jhana/samadhi) in stilling the mind, which occurs as we move in and through second jhana (although, come to think of it, I think it starts while still in first jhana -- these lines are so subjective and nonlinear, yes?). The second part of the article offers advice to beginning meditators, although these are things that I personally need to review from time to time. Anyway, here's a link to the article: rightabsorption.wordpress.com/2011/04/20/jhanasamadhi-and-stilling-the-mind/Much love, Michael

Congratulations on composing yet another excellent article, Michael. I found the stilling of the mind is just an entry point to deeper contemplation (samadhi), which produces that dark night of the soul, which is an essential spiritual crisis, that is intended to take us deeper, if we are self-aware enough to go deeper into our psyche to rout out the obstacles on our spiritual journey.
