Not sure which deck is on the top there, but the depiction is the same as in the Cosmic tarot -- and I like it because it shows the lobster emerging from the water, which tells us that the Moon is a very emotional archetypal energy that connects us with the contents of the deep unconscious. It is also (in the full-moon aspect) a shining light in the darkness of our emotional depths.
When pulling the Moon card, I give it a generally positive reading, although I remind the client that this is a time for going within, for allowing certain emotional processes to arise and work themselves out -- we are not to repress them or hide from them. The Moon herself will guide us through the process... like the big cat in the second card.
On a larger level, Moon is the feminine aspect within the querant -- receptive, nurturing, sharing, supporting -- and so it reminds us to ensure that we are allowing these qualities into our life. She also reminds us about a potential for sacrificing our own needs for the good of others, thereby inviting resentment into us -- so we need to focus on nourishing ourselves.
In a reading, as mentioned, this card usually has to do with moving into a subjective space and allowing some sort of emotional process to full express itself in order for us to move over the threshold and into the next cycle of life.

Yes, I could not find the Cosmic Tarot version of the Moon card online...
Very interesting what you wrote...

When I see The Moon in a reading, depending on the context, it may mean that the querent needs to look inside and allow insight to come from dreams and intuition, and that hidden emotions are at play. It can also mean that the person is going thru a very confusing time, an amorphous time that seems to feel like a struggle, but may be about something new being born, but they hold irrational fears and anxieties. I have also seen the card in readings where someone involved is just acting plain crazy!

Hi Chea Maria,
I really like the way you express yourself here -- and I think we are in total agreement. I like what the Moon represents, but also recognize that not everyone is comfortable with the insecurity that it sometimes brings. The querant needs to know that this is a cycle that will resolve itself more quickly if our resistance is minimized.
Blessings, Michael

Thanks for your meaningful descriptions Michael and Chea Maria...at first I didn't know what to make of this card.
I guess the thing that first caught my eye was the dog and wolf howling at the Moon...the howling sound haunting and beautiful to me...touching something primal about connecting to our emotional needs...
Maybe the dog and the wolf represent the range of our emotions...our more tamed expression versus the darker more primal, raw side? Or, we feel torn in some way and are having a hard time reconciling this within us?
If the lobster represents what is unconscious, maybe it is partly about trying to see what lies beneath the surface...and allowing this process to happen from a place of acceptance...
In astrology, I think of the Moon as the need to be in touch with our emotional needs and the time needed to process them so that we can mature and grow...relating to cycles of development as you mention.
Thanks so much for your descriptions...they are helpful...!

Thanks, Michael. Yes, Resistance is futile! For when one does resist, they may wind up feeling very much like the 9 of Swords... but it all depends on the issue.
The Moon can also have to do with feelings about the querent's mother, or mother figure, and if a man, unexamined underlying feelings about his female partner that are surfacing. For a woman, it may indicate timing, or gestating, either literally or figuratively.

Accordance with Alexandre Jodoroswky "La voie du Tarot" (Tarot Path) this card relates to MotherĀ“s World, also to the unconscious aspects, intuition and the mystery of being, its potential of infinite receptive is its greatest wealth. For a Man the Moon encourages to cultivate female traditionally qualities like sensivity and intuition. In the reading the Moon shows the possibility to start to learn Tarot. It is a good new for Mystics Studies.

Thanks for the perspective from Jodorowsky, Marina -- I will see if that book is available in English, as it looks interesting.

Deep inside it you will know, Change has come though it won't show...
Dreams, intuitive feelings, the beginning of psychic development. The Moon can indicate, to be alert for all these subtle changes.
Trust ones own feelings. Clear the air with others and or any concerns related to others.
Has a feeling to me sometimes of taking off the "rose coloured glasses" depending on context.
When I pull this card I usually think oh, no....it is a reminder, I know I am drifting from my path and losing my intuitive connection.
It's a complex card....its nature is deceptive. Afraid, anxious, disoriented and vulnerable feelings can show here.
Moon says find out what your feelings, tap into your intuition etc....
