When I ask a question, are the Tarot cards reflecting back to me my own energy (projection) of the situation...or are they reflecting the truth of the situation?
Or, asking it more directly...
Do the cards reflect an objective truth?
Does my question make sense?

Hi Leann,
It will be interesting to see what others say, but I am convinced that the cards "never lie," that they really do reflect an accurate symbolic representation of objective truth.
It is in the interpretation that our biases are projected, so we need to take that into account when we are pulling cards for ourselves. In this sense, Tarot makes a wonderful meditation object when pulling cards for ourselves, but we probably get a more objective reading when someone else interprets them for us.
When I really want objectivity and there's no one around who can read the Cards for me, I throw coins for the I Ching, then look up the answers in a book that gives a translation of the original texts without interpreting them for us (the Ritsema/Karcher I Ching is a good example -- in fact, I know of no others that offer a straight transliteration without telling us what to think). Then I get the unvarnished "straight hit."

I practiced I-Ching for a while, much to the suprise of my prgrammed rationality center it seemed to give correct information! My assumption prior to this was the coin tosses are random, but perhaps this aspect needs to be questioned?
Randomness implies that some events are simply not related to others. Perhaps it is the case that every event pertains to every other event. This jives with my meditation experience that percieved boundaries are an illusion.
So could it be that an aspect of our conciousness that we are not aware of is able to "feed" the relevant information through the coins or the cards? Of course this would mean that we actually already have unlimited information and knowledge but we have simply not listened to ourselves enough to discover it. Something like be still and know?

As one of my mentors, Charles Bebeau, used to say, "I find no evidence for the existence of randomness."
Everything operates according to the laws of synchronicity, which state that everything is connected, and that an over-arching Intelligence informs all the connections. Like the laws of karma, the laws of synchronicity operate outside restrictions of space and time -- so it's almost impossible to ever get a full sense of how everything is connected -- we would almost have to have the full consciousness of God for that!
Symbol systems like astrology, Tarot and the I Ching are gifts to humanity, allowing us to tap into these sacred laws and principles for the betterment of the individual and the collective.
To me the direction of the "feeding" that you speak of is rendered inert by the notion that the Atman is also the Purusha -- the "little me" is one with the "big me," which is one with the "Only ME." On this level, when the "little me" feeds information through the coins (or seems to do so), the response is coming from the "big me" through the ultimate Source of the "Only ME" -- it's all one Intelligence conspiring through synchronicity to situate us as closely as possible within natural cycles of unfoldment -- wherein we are better equipped to perform our individual missions within the collective evolution.

When I ask a question, are the Tarot cards reflecting back to me my own energy (projection) of the situation...or are they reflecting the truth of the situation? Or, asking it more directly... Do the cards reflect an objective truth? Does my question make sense? In my experience, if I ask for the truth, then that is what the cards will give me. If I ask a question motivated by my own desire, then I will get the answer I want rather than the truth. So, what I do is ask the question while shuffling and make the intention to know the truth... then they never lie.
